Volunteers are valued members of the Hospice of the Valley team. You can make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families while adding meaning to your own life. Volunteers support the agency’s mission in a variety of ways.
Home Care
Volunteers provide breaks for caregivers,visit with patients, run errands and offer support.
Inpatient Care
Volunteers in these home-like settings assist patients, families, and the staff by serving meals, being present at a patient’s bedside, and helping as needed.
Dementia Care
Additional training is given to volunteers who are interested in working with these very special patients and families.
11th Hour Companion Program
Seasoned Hospice of the Valley volunteers provide their presence at the bedside of a patient who is near death.
Pet Connections Program
Pet Connection volunteers visit patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, group homes and inpatient hospice homes with their pets.
White Dove Thrift Shoppe
The White Dove Thrift Shoppe is a 4,000-square-foot facility in Phoenix showcasing art, furniture and clothing. Volunteers sort, price, arrange, and display items and assist customers.
Clerical Support
Duties may include filing, data entry, labeling mailings and other general clerical duties at the agency’s offices Valley wide.
Bereavement Phone Support
Volunteers make calls to caregivers to support them through this difficult time and offer additional information and resources.
Special Events Support
Volunteers are needed to help with the agency’s fund-raising and community events.
Speaker’s Bureau
Volunteers speak to community groups about services and programs offered by Hospice of the Valley.
Music Partners
Volunteers play recordings, sing, or play an instrument to patients.
