Why Hospice of the Valley?
Hospice of the Valley is a not-for-profit, locally owned health care agency. Founded in 1977, we are one of the nation's oldest and largest hospices, serving 90,000 patients with life-limiting illnesses. As the number of for-profit hospices in Maricopa County has grown, Hospice of the Valley proudly remains the leader, serving more patients than any other and offering the widest array of services.
Hospice of the Valley is nationally known as an education hospice, providing professional training on end-of-life care to physicians-in-training, nurses and other professionals.
For seriously ill people who need support but aren't ready for hospice care, Hospice of the Valley offers several prehospice programs, including Outreach, Home Health and MediCaring™.
Specialized programs also have been developed for people with Dementia, which includes Alzheimer's disease, and for patients with pulmonary or lung disease.
To soothe the soul, Hospice of the Valley provides Integrative Therapies – such as massage, music and aromatherapy. The Pet Connections program lifts patients' spirits with visits from dogs, cats, bunnies – and even a miniature pony.
More than 90 percent of our patients are cared for in their own homes. Those who need round-the-clock nursing care can go to one of our 15 inpatient hospice homes, which offer uniquely small, nurturing environments that feel more like a home than a medical facility.
Our 1,500 committed, compassionate staff members rank highest in the nation for earning national certification in hospice and palliative care. They consistently win national and statewide awards for exceptional service and expertise.
